This Week’s Cartoon: King of Zing

Once again, my weekly cartoon deadline fell before the debate, which I thought Obama won handily. Romney seemed Nixonesque — sweaty, uncomfortable, and oleaginous-haired. But really, this whole process of declaring winners based on zingers and memes leaves me with the feeling that the debates are, well, dumb.

    I’ve long since tired of political races. They are conducted on the level of pro wrestling in these waning days of the American Empire. My stomach, it turns.

    Voters hold their noses while picking between terrible acquaintancecs. Not voting is cutting off your nose despite having to face dire consequences.

    Jen is one of the few so far to see the foolishness of picking the most powerful leader on earth on the basis of debating skills. It is beyond stupid, and America is indeed on the wane, with an incumbent President who lacks basic leadership qualities and a challenger who lacks compassion for his fellow man.

    Fortunately, the President doesn’t run the country like a czar. Unfortunately, a band of narcissists ruled by lobbyists acting for czars, despots, dictators, drug cartels, foreign nationals, and oil sheiks does.
