Slop-henge



This cartoon is in the spirit of the book Motel of the MysteriesI was initially thinking of Easter Island, which was widely thought to have suffered from population decline due to destruction of natural resources, a theory promulgated by the scholar Jared Diamond. Many researchers have since suggested that the slave trade and introduction of disease by Europeans were far more ruinous. In the end, I went with the idea of turning the data centers into a kind of Stonehenge, baffling future historians as to their significance.
